[REMEMBER: THE DEADLINE IS THIS SUNDAY, NOV. 25]
ATTENTION, ARTISTS!
Writers' Community, a student group of writers at the University of
Michigan, is producing the second issue of our annual literary magazine
of member work. This year's magazine is titled "Nocturnal Machinery",
which is a phrase that comes from one of our submissions. We chose it
because many of our pieces have a specific night theme or a general
tone of darkness, and also because it is a good metaphor for the
creative process, suggesting all the behind-the-scenes grinding of cogs
and wheels that goes on before the creation of the finished product.
And, it works as a metaphor for dreams.
We are soliciting cover designs for this magazine. The cover should be
a digital image of two 8.5/11" sheets, designed in color, and should
cover both the front and the back of the magazine. The front needs to
contain the text "Nocturnal Machinery" "Writers' Community Literary
Magazine: Issue 2" and "Fall 2007" (these last two can be big or small
and located anywhere on the page, but we'd like "Nocturnal Machinery"
to be prominent and somewhat central). Other than that, the artistic
interpretation is up to you-
done by hand are all welcome. Please submit them as pdf documents.
This issue will have a circulation of about 150-200 copies, which is
considerable exposure, and we'll be sure to give you credit for the
design in print inside--you'll be published! It could be an impressive
addition to any artist/graphic designer's portfolio. You do not have to
be a student at Michigan to participate, anyone can enter!
The deadline for the submissions is:
5.00 p.m. on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 25th
via email to writerscommunity@gmail.com (as an attachment in .pdf format)
If you have any questions, please email writerscommunity@umich.edu.
Looking forward to your submissions!
